NPP Is Not A Serious Political Party; They Are A Horde Of Hypocrites. I have been provoked by the incessant press conferences/statements from the opposition NPP every now and then. I am also motivated by the spirit of always scribing my convictions. Can it be possible for all members within identifiable group practice hypocrisy in place of their original beliefs or virtues? Well, if you thought otherwise, then you may as well be practicing hypocrisy just like the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana. Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, or standards that one does not actually have. The expansion of hypocrisy as done above, best describe the real identity of the NPP. They have almost always pretended to be honest, democratic, righteous and above all, peaceful. But in actual fact, they are not; this is practically hypocrisy. Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie. The NPP sets standards that they cannot even respect and yet they want the NDC to go by their broken standards. Instead of thinking about how to repackage their failed Presidential hopeful, Nana Akufo-Addo, they have spent time to publish some commentaries on the TOR debt by leading figures of the NDC including the H.E. the President. They give details of where and when the various personalities have given different figures with regards to the actual debt of TOR as at the end of 31st December, 2008. I will not waste time to explain why the differences in figures because that’s not my concentration. My concentration is exposing the double standards of the NPP! Why has the NPP failed to tell Ghanaians the correct debt of TOR as at the end of 2000 financial year? They have also given different figures even as of today and I will prove it. When they are in power, they say “do not play politics with TOR…” but when in opposition, they say “everything is politics” including TOR. What a double standard!!!! The inconsistencies in the figures given by the NPP on TOR debt since 2001 should explain why they should not have ventured into that business. “He who comes to equity must come with clean hands”. 1. In his Mid-Year Review of the Budget presented to Parliament on 8th November 2001, the then Finance Minister Yaw Osafo-Marfo stated that “it must be noted that the total stock of TOR’s debt is estimated at ¢2.5 trillion”. 2. At a press briefing to announce new prices for petroleum prices in Accra on the 17th January, 2003, the then Senior Minister Hon. J. H. Mensah quoted that “the total debt of TOR is ¢4.5 trillion”. 3. In answering questions on the Kufour government’s decision to increase fuel prices at a People’s Assembly at Odumase Krobo (Manya Krobo District) in the Eastern Region on Friday 17th January 2003, A government Spokesperson Nana Ohene Ntow said “the government discovered the falsehood when it took over the reigns of government finding a debt of ¢2.3 trillion in the accounts of the Tema Oil Refinery” Nana Ohene Ntow further assured the people that the Ministries of Trade and Industries and Economic Planning were in discussions with experts to produce diesel from the eucalyptus seed to help to reduce the cost of fuel imports. Where is the research finding” or better still the Diesel? 4. In a press statement released by the then Minister of Energy Hon. Prof. Mike Oquaye on Monday February 28, 2005, he explained the essence of the TOR Debt Recovery Fund Levy as follows: “The Debt Recovery Fund Levy of ¢640 per liter was imposed by Parliament to recover an amount of over ¢4.5 trillion as a result of under pricing of petroleum product since May 2003” 5. Just some few days ago, Hon. Kan Dapaah, NPP MP for Afigya Sekere West stated that the NPP inherited a total debt of ¢3.2 trillion at TOR. He said this when he granted an interview on Radio Ghana’s current affairs program, ‘BEHIND THE NEWS’ which is aired through our all the Regions in Ghana on 14th January 2011 at 8:33pm. These are the facts and figures produced by the NPP since 2001!!
