Male and Female Circumcision

Male circumcision is the removal of the prepuce (foreskin at the tip of the pens) by a minor operation. Generally, the male circumcision is necessary as a result of its numerous advantages. It assist in removing the clot of dirt which collects under the gleans of the penis. This clot of dirt may develop some form of cancer in the man or his wife. The prepuce is soft and if present, it experiences cuts easily during sexual intercourse. The uncircumcised male is therefore prone to infectious sexually transmitted disease such as aids easily. In Ghana, female circumcision is common among the northerners. Female circumcision is the removal of the clitoris by a minor operation. Their main reason for this practice is to lower the status of women and make them inferior to males. In some societies, royal males are not supposed to be circumcised otherwise the victim may be eliminated from the royal family. On the other had, the failure of the female to be circumcised discards them from the royal family. Although circumcision is very necessary is also has its bad side, it renders female victims insensitive and deprives them from the joy of sexual intercourse. There is occurrence of excessive bleeding which may lead to the death of the victims especially in females. The pains of the operation can cause some females to avoid sex completely in their lives. Circumcision can lead to aids transmission if the instruments used are not well sterilized after use.
