Three teen-aged truck pushers at Mankessim in the Central Region who embarked on a stealing expedition and stole valuables totalling GH¢203, have been remanded in police custody at Ajumako. The presiding judge, Mr Kwesi Boakye Enimil, charged the police to do their homework well and come out with the true ages of the accused to determine where and how to pursue their trial.Facts as presented by the prosecutor, Inspector Bismark Appiah are that on January 14, this year, the accused, 15-year-old Michael Bentsil, a native of Enyan-Abasa and leader of the group, conspired with Emmanuel Appiah, also 15, and Kwame Banfoe, 16, to walk on foot from Mankessim through Abowinmu to Abasa all in the Central Region. On the way at Enyan-Nkojo, the three broke into the house of Madam Comfort Aidoo and made away with four pieces of cloth, curtains, bed-sheets and a mobile phone among other things. He said at Eyiakrom the accused reported at Grace Bansah’s shop and asked for a sachet of Omo soap to buy, and that in her attempt to bring the Omo the accused took her Samsung mobile phone and took to their heels. Madam Bansah raised an alarm and the accused persons were given a hot chase by the inhabitants who managed to arrest them and subjected them to severe beatings.A good Samaritan who was around phoned the police from Abasa to come to their rescue and they were rushed to Abasa clinic for treatment.Upon interrogation they admitted having caused the offence and at the court pleaded guilty to the charges of stealing and causing damage to property.
