About 6000 residents of Fanti Akuraa in Pru District and Bator in Sene District of the Brong Ahafo Region, have been displaced following a severe flood that swept through two communities. Property lost is estimated at about GH¢50,000. Mr Joseph Blankson Nyarko, Regional Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) told the Ghana News Agency that about 4,000 people were affected at Yeji and 2,000 at Fanti Akuraa and Bator. He explained that the opening of the Bagri Dam and the Kompiege Dam at Burkina Faso led to the floods. The Regional Co-ordinator complained about the poor drainage systems in the two communities, which he said also contributed to the problem. Mr Nyarko said NADMO would organise relief items for the rehabilitation of the flood victims. He appealed to public- spirited individuals and organisations to offer support to the victims.
