Crown Long Thai grain Fragrant Rice Infested With Weevil
The Ghana Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has alerted the general public that, a consignment of Crown Long Thai Grain Fragrant Rice, imported and being distributed for sale by TAJ Investment Limited is found to be heavily infested with weevils, making it unwholesome for human consumption. A press release, issued on Wednesday, by the Food and Drugs Board, said the Board has detained 306 bags of the unwholesome rice found in the importer’s warehouse at North Industrial Area, Accra, for destruction. Meanwhile, wholesalers and retailers, who might have bought some of the above mentioned rice, are advised to return them to the supplier for subsequent destruction. “The Board is therefore advising the general public to check the wholesomeness of food products they purchase and also report activities of retailers that compromise public health and safety to the Food and Drugs Board”, the statement concluded.
