Kofi Amo, an unemployed who stole palm fruits worth GH¢12.00 belonging to Madam Afua Emkuma, has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment in hard labour, by the Akim Oda Magistrate Court. Amo pleaded guilty to stealing. Briefing the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang, said the complainant, Madam Emkuma, is a trader and lives at Akim Achiase with Amo. Chief Inspector Appiahkorang said lately, the complainant has been detecting the theft of her goods, especially palm fruits and that on January 16, this year at about 0600 hours when she woke up, she could not find a quantity of palm fruits that she had kept in her house. The prosecutor said Madam Emkuma informed some of the workers of palm oil refinery in the town to assist her to trace the culprit, adding that the information yielded positive result, when Amo who has not got a farm, sent a quantity of palm fruits to sell at the refinery. She stated that Madam Eunice Boabeng, a worker at the refinery had feigned interest to purchase the palm fruits and when Amo showed up, he was arrested.
