Anas Accused of Staging Report | Orphanage Director

The Director of the Osu Children’s home has accused investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas of ‘stage managing’ his recent exposé which revealed massive rot at the orphanage. Madam Sharon Abbey said some of the videos in the exposé were not real and claims the children Anas used in the video were instigated by the ace journalist to help his cause. Madam Abbey who was responding to queries from the nine member committee set up to investigate the rot exposed by Anas in his recent video said she is ready to produce some of the children that Anas allegedly convinced to act in the video as evidence. Anas Aremeyaw Anas of the Crusading Guide, captured scenes of the maltreatment of the children on video during an undercover investigation at the Osu Children’s home. Anas’ recent exposé has caused a stir within the Social welfare department and the ministry responsible for the proper management of the orphanage. Some authorities in charge of the home have been quick to defend some of the horrifying levels of child neglect, abuse, corruption and sheer thievery at Ghana’s flagship Children’s Home. The Director of Social Welfare earlier slammed Anas’ exposé accusing him of skewing some scenes in his 90 minute documentary. Mr. Stephen Adongo, doubted if Anas and his team genuinely set out to help the Children of the orphanage with his recent documentary. Meanwhile in a rebuttal, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has chided Madam Abbey and dared her to produce evidence to the effect that the scenes in the documentary were stage managed. In an interview with Citi News on Wednesday, September 29, Anas dismissed the claims by the director of the orphanage describing them as false. He however added that he expected such a reaction from the authorities. He said the system is embarrassed and ashamed by the evidence produced in his video and that has compelled the authorities to behave in such a manner. “How can I stage manage such a thing that mothers are seen beating children, is she telling me that I put the sores on the children too? This is very pathetic, it is completely false, if you put ten children to identify me they will even be confused, they don’t know who I am...the system is embarrassed and ashamed that is why they are doing this.” He retorted.
