Accra, Mar. 03, GNA - Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye, Inspector General of Police (IGP), on Friday urged Police personnel to endeavor to be neutral, as they prepare for the presidential elections. "Remember your oath to work without fear or favor. We would have to make sacrifices to ensure there is peace." These were contained in a speech read on the IGP's behalf by Commissioner of Police (COP) John Kudalor, Director General, in charge of police Operations, at the Annual Police "WASA" or get together, which was held in Accra. "The Police Service has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons and I admonish you all to be more diligent and dedicated to your duties," the IGP said. He warned that recalcitrant personnel would not be tolerated saying, "we would not tolerate sub-standard and inefficient ones. Those who connive with criminals must be careful, because we would get you." The IGP urged police personnel to work as a team, and respect the fundamental rights of citizens. The Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP. Kwame Agblor, said even though the CID was confronted with a number of challenges, the department also made modest gains, such as a marginal two percent reduction in robbery. He noted however that other crimes such as murder, rape, defilement and narcotics recorded upward trends. "Whilst acknowledging that our achievements were due to your hard work and dedication, I urge you to improve upon your performance. I also express my gratitude to the IGP and entire Police Administration for their support to the CID," he said. GNA
