Ghana Football Association executive committee member George Afriyie believes it is too early for anybody to tip the black stars as favorites to win next year’s Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Despite Big teams failure to qualify for the event including Egypt and Cameroon, two teams that have dominated the competition since 1998 has triggered expectations by Ghanaian fans, next January will be the Black Stars chance to end a 30 year wait for a major title triumph. In an interview with JOY Sports, he stated that, good preparation to the tournament should be the major priority of every Ghanaian rather than thinking about annexing the cup with the absence of some African football giants. “It’s early days yet to declare Ghana as winners of the next mundial and I believe it will not be as easy as people think the fact that some of the big names in African football didn’t make it”. George stated. Ghana has been seeded at the draw for the 2012 African Nations Cup scheduled to take place on October 28 in Malabo the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
