World Vision Ghana Donates Books To Institutions Website
The Mfantseman Area Development Programme (ADP) of the World Vision, Ghana (WVG), a Christian relief organisation has donated books valued at GH¢25,000 to some institutions in the Central Region. The books were mobilised from institutions abroad in support of World Vision’s project dubbed, "Gift-In-Kind". Under the project, WVG provides essentials such as clothing and medicals to the needy and vulnerable people, institutions and communities. The books were distributed to 12 basic schools, four senior high schools, two universities, two nursing training colleges and a fire service station. Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Cape Coast, Mrs Gifty Otu Appiah, ADP Manager, said though WVG was a child focus organization, it had interest in how the child developed into adulthood and had been making donations for that purpose. Mrs Otu Appiah said in the past six years, the ADP had done a lot under the Gift-In-Kind programme for the people and institutions in the Mfantseman District. Mr Paul Arhin, Deputy Registrar, received books on behalf of the University expressed gratitude to the donors. He noted that the books covered wide subject areas and assured that they would enhance research work of the students. Receiving their share of the books, Mad Deborah Morny, Principal of Ankaful Nurses Training College, near Cape Coast, urged help for the college, particularly books, equipment, drugs and any other items, which could help in producing quality nurses for the country.
