The Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has paid a visit to the 37 Military Hospital to offer solace and support to individuals injured in the recent El-Wak Sports Stadium stampede.
The visit was a direct response to the tragic incident that occurred during the Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, which resulted in the death of 6 young Ghanaians, leaving several others with varying degrees of injury.
During her time at the hospital, the Vice President personally comforted the victims, speaking with them and their families. She assured them of the government’s full commitment to covering their medical expenses and ensuring they receive the best possible care until they make a full recovery.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed her profound sympathy for the victims and their families, describing the incident as unfortunate and regrettable.
“The government stands with you in this difficult time,” she stated. “Our primary concern is your health and well-being. Be assured that we will bear the full cost of your treatment and support you through your recovery.”
The Vice President was received by the Chief Defence Staff, Deputy Defense Minister, and medical staff at the hospital, who provided updates on the condition of the patients. She commended the healthcare teams for their swift and professional response in managing the situation.
The government has pledged a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the stampede to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies in the future.
