A 10-day training programme on business skills for 155 management committee members of the UN Millennium Village Project (MVP) selected from the Amansie-West District has ended at Manso-Nkwanta. The workshop organized jointly by the UN MVP and the Rural Enterprise Development Project aimed at giving the participants the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in the production of batik tye and dye, snail rearing, grass cutter rearing, bee-keeping and soap making. Addressing the participants Mr. Enock Osei, MVP Business Enterprises Development Sector Coordinator, said efforts were being made to negotiate with other financial institutions like Odotobri Rural Bank at Jacobu for credit facilitates to support the activities of the small scale businesses. This, he said would help the youth to improve their livelihood and contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economic development of the country. Mr. Osei said the area was potentially good for farming and other activities and appealed to the people to take advantage of the enabling environment and venture into establishing such businesses. He expressed concern about the poor road network and appealed to the district assembly and the government to address the problem to attract investors to the area.
