Information reaching Peacefmonline.com indicates that about 15 people have lost their lives in a tragic head-on collision involving a 207 Benz Bus and a Mazda vehicle in the early hours of Wednesday, January 19. The tragic incident is said to have occurred at Wongade Forest between Onyinase to Amenfi, close to the Winneba junction on the Winneba – Apam Highway. The 207 bus was on its way to Accra whiles the Mazda, loaded with boxes of sardine was heading towards Cape Coast from Accra. Both drivers are said to have died on the spot. The driver of the Mazda private car, alleged to have been sleeping at the wheel, lost control and veered into the lane of the oncoming Benz bus, thus resulting in the fatal impact. An eyewitness, K. Gyasi who narrated the incident on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show said the driver of the 207 bus, which is a commercial vehicle with 23 passengers on board, tried to avoid the collision but failed in his attempt. According to him, the foggy nature of the weather might be a contributing factor to the accident. The eight people who survived the accident have been rushed to the Winneba Government Hospital for medical attention. Meanwhile, bodies of the unfortunate victims have been deposited at the Winneba mortuary.
