A Circuit Court at Cape Coast on Friday, fined two commercial drivers a total of GH¢700.00 for committing road traffic offences in the Cape Coast Township. Both Kwesi Annobil 35, and Yaw Adarkwa 30, pleaded guilty and were fined 300 and 400 Ghana Cedis for obstruction and stopping at an unauthorized place respectively. They will go to jail for three months each in hard labour, if they fail to pay the fine. Chief Inspector Oheneba Amoako Boateng, prosecuting told the Court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that, last week Tuesday, the police on their routine patrols arrested Annobil when he parked in the middle of the road at Kotokuraba Central, loading and offloading passengers. He said Adarkwa had also stopped under the Pedu-Takoradi traffic light picking passengers when the green light was on, causing obstruction to other vehicles. The other vehicles continued to honk their horns to get him to move on but to no avail until the patrol team got to the scene and caused his arrest. Chief Inspector Boateng urged drivers to desist from such unruly behaviour.
