The Chief of Tema Nii Adjei Kraku says his request for voters to support the NDC’s Prof. Atta Mills does not mean that he is playing partisan politics. The Tema Mantse says he has the habit of urging the followers of flag bearers who pay courtesy calls on him to vote for their leader. “Amongst my people, there are NPP and there are NDC so when their leaders come I tell them to vote for them”, he stated. Nii Kraku was speaking to Joy News in reaction to a report that he declared his support for Professor Mills and the NDC when the NDC flag bearer paid a courtesy call on him on Thursday, April 3, 2008. He explained that, on previous occasions when the flag bearers of the NPP and CPP paid similar calls on him, he did not do anything different. He said he is fully aware of the constitutional requirement for chiefs to be politically neutral adding that that shapes his relationship with politicians. He says, as a chief, he sees himself as a father and embraces all who come to him.
