Wednesday January 5, 2011 will be exactly one year since the death of the late Maj. Courage Quashigah (rtd) and a memorial ceremony will be held to commemorate the day. This is according to a statement released by the former aide to the former Minister of Health. Maj. Courage Quashigah passed away on the 5th of January, 2010 in Israel where he was receiving medical treatment. In a statement issued in Accra by Kobla Asamani, the former aide to the late Maj. Quashigah, the memorial ceremony will take place this weekend in his hometown Dzolukope, Keta where he was laid to rest. According to the statement, the programme will be attended by the wife and children, family relatives, well wishers and friends as well as some sympathisers from the general republic. Read the full statement below. QUASHIGAH TO BE REMEMBERED TOMORROW 5TH JAN. 2011 AFTER HIS DEMISE A YEAR A GO – HE IS AN EXEMPLARY MODEL TO ALL A minute silence will be ok as “Tomorrow” marks exactly a year when the entire country was hit by a rainstorm of the death of the late Major Courage E. K. Quashigah (Rtd.) in Israel; one of Ghana’s living legions. As the biblical saying goes “All shall pass away but the word of God will forever remain the same”, so, it applies to man that, man will pass away but his good legacies will forever stay eternal and continue to live in the hearts and minds of succeeding generations. A good man is hard to find and the late Major Courage E. K. Quashigah (Rtd.) was the type that is hard to find and Ghana has lost one of its finest military officers and statesmen. An activity to commemorate the event will take place this weekend at his hometown Dzolukope, Keta where he was laid to eternal rest on the 20th of March last year. (2010). The programme will be attended by the Wife and Children, Family Relatives, well wishers and friends as well as some sympathisers from the general republic. The Late Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd.) was Ghana’s one time Minster of Agriculture and Health during Former President Kuffour’s Administration (2001 – 2008). In retrospection, there are a lot to be said about Major Courage Quashigah as fine gentleman and politician who demonstrated excellence throughout his Life and Career touching and impacting on many lives both locally and internationally. Like any other person, the Late Quashigah will be remembered in several fields where his contributions impacted on Ghana’s development. In a quick review of various fields where he contributed immensely to Ghana’s development includes, the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana’s Agriculture, Ghana’s Health paradigm sift, foreign diplomacy, Ghana’ peace keeping operations in Lebanon, the United States Rangers School, Canadian Staff College and the British Royal Military Academy – Sunhurts. The rest are music, culture, time management, youth, children and women development. Finally, the late Major Courage Quashigah also excelled in other areas such as multi party democracy, seminars and conferences organization, human resource management and development as well as his envious effective leadership skills and Public Oratory presentation. Ghana’s lost illustrious son, the late Major Courage Quashigah has earned place in Ghana’s history. It is therefore very significant for Ghanaian’s to use these benchmarks set by the late former Minister Quashigah as foundation for contributing their quota to national development. Today, African Union has declared the last Friday of February each year as Africa’s Healthy Lifestyle Day. The UN has also made moves to call on member countries to shift from animal based diets to plant base diet. In addition, Major Quashigah was an inspiration in advancing the practise of Healthy life style living in Ghana, Africa and the globe in partnership with the African Hebrew Israelites of Dimona, Israel led by His Excellency Ben Ammin; where for 40 years nobody has died. As a former executive officer of the Great Old Major, a lot were learnt, shared and experienced during our working days and I know many people also enjoyed same. I urge Ghanaians to pay a minute silence to remember and reflect on the demise of the Late Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd.) and how useful his contributions will be to them as individuals, institutions and organizations with regards to national development. Happy New Year to all and Ghanaians must remember however that their little efforts wherever they fine themselves will help in Ghana’s development following the Quashigah Model as a Ranger. Rangers always lead the Way. Not only lead the way, but make things happen for the interest of the masses hope.
