Professor Daniel Buor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has instituted a GH¢200 incentive package for teachers and pupils of Atwima Manhyia Methodist Primary School. Announcing this at the 80th anniversary celebration of the school at Atwima Manhyia on Friday, Prof. Dr. Dr. Buor, who is the Pro-Vost of College of Arts and Social Science of KNUST and an old pupil of the school, said the incentive package was aimed at motivating the teachers and pupils. He said the best three teachers for the next three years will each receive GH¢300 whilst the three best pupils selected from Primary Six will also receive GH¢50 (¢500,000) for each year. Prof. Buor said the best behaved and disciplined boy and girl will each be given GH¢50 (¢500,000). He donated GH¢100 (¢1,000,000) and 20 bags of cement to the school. Mrs. Dinah Appiah, the Atwima Nwabiagya District Director of Education, said children should be encouraged to acquire relevant and quality education. She said without proper supervision and discipline from teachers and other stakeholders, efforts by the government to improve quality education delivery would be in vain. Mr. Henry Evans Arthur, Head teacher of the school, appealed to the district assembly to help complete the abandoned two class room and kindergarten block that is at the lintel level.
