Right Rev. Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Sunday asked leaders to regard themselves as servants chosen by God or men to serve in love for the common goal and benefits of society. "You have been chosen to serve by the Lord through his people, therefore rely on God for direction and be determined to work hard to propel the nation in its development drive". Rev. Frimpong-Manso, who was speaking at the induction service for the Director General and Deputy of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in Accra entreated them to see leadership as a corporate responsibility where everyone had to contribute his or her quota to achieve the corporation's objectives. He said leadership entailed sacrifice and called on them at every time to be humble, regardless of any situation in order for them to achieve best results for the corporation adding; "Turn GBC to be the pathfinder in the communication industry". Rev. Frimpong-Manso urged the leaders to eschew corruption, immorality and be useful catalysts in the service to society and God. "Depart from iniquity, corruption, immorality and be vessels for God's mission on earth," he said. Mr. William Ampem-Darko, Director General of GBC after his induction thanked the church for their immense support and promised to use GBC as a channel to maintain the peace that the country was enjoying. "I implore all the flagbearers of the various political parties to be civil in the package of their campaign messages as against provocative diction which will not augur well for the peace of the nation". "Ghanaians are becoming aware of the things that go on in the political arena and a well-packaged message will win the day," he added. Mr Ampem-Darko urged private broadcasters to be wary of NMC's code on political reportage and observe the tenets in order to preserve the peace of the nation in this electioneering year. He said GBC would set up an Election Monitoring Committtee to monitor and check the corporation's activities on the various political parties, adding; "We promise to work hard to ensure fair coverage on activities of the various parties". Mr. Joe Ghartey, Minister of Justice and Attorney General called on Ghanaians to condemn any action by any individual that would disturb the peace of the country.
