Tuesday’s meeting was preceded by acrimony with some political parties threatening to a unilateral action against the EC if it did not call the meeting. Speaking to Joy News, the first Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said the NDC will be seeking answers from the EC on the subject. He said the EC would have to explain the figures in the voter’s register in those constituencies. The flag bearer of the NDC, Prof. Atta Mills raised the issue of the register been over bloated in 13 constituencies in the Ashanti Region and called for an investigation. He warned he would not accept the results of the December polls if the matter was not properly investigated. The EC said it was conducting investigations into the allegations and make its findings known in due course. The acting Director of Public Affairs of the EC, Mr Yorke Aidoo said he did not expect the discussions to be acrimonious. He said the EC will be addressing the concerns of the political parties at the meeting.
