Ningo Secondary Launches 32nd Anniversary Website
The Ghana Education Service’s School Selection and Placement System has been lauded as a better programme that has ensured that students from the Junior High Schools are evenly and equitably placed in the various Senior High Schools across the country without discrimination. The less endowed schools are especially privileged to benefit from the system since they also now enrol students from highly rated Junior High Schools and have also increased enrolment in most rural and community schools. Mr. Emmanuel Atsu Mensah, Dangme West District Director of Education made this observation at the 32nd Anniversary celebrations and Speech and Prize Giving Day of the Ningo Senior High School at Old Ningo on Tuesday. He said, even though the issue has been of great concern to parents, teachers and especially headmasters, because of some problems facing the system, it is still a better option. “Whatever our opinions and whatever our reservations are about the system, let us make our views known and also give very concrete suggestions towards its improvement for the overall development of the educational system”. Mr Mensah stressed the need for effective collaboration between the school and the community to help in building upon the social fabric of the society through the benefits of education. The District Director commended the founding fathers, teachers and the chiefs and people of the Ningo Traditional Area for their foresight and commitment towards providing secondary education to the people of the area. Mr. Mensah said teachers have a critical role to play in moulding the character of the student but added that, of late it is unfortunate that a few teachers have failed in their duty as role models due to various anti-social practices. He said that, if the school is to meet the needs of students and fulfill the expectations of parents, there should be good linkages between teachers and parents and urged the students to make tremendous sacrifices to ensure a bright future. Mr Benjamin Nartey Narh, Chairman of Board of Governors of the School and the Founder of the Ningo Senior High School, Mr William Nartey advised the Students to take advantage of the conducive atmosphere at the school to learn hard to prepare themselves for their future. Mr Christopher K. Sedefia, Headmaster of Ningo Senior High School appealed to parents, old students and people of the area to support the school to develop its infrastructure, adding that the school has over the year’s been recording excellent academic results with a number of the students gaining admission into the tertiary institutions and the universities. Rev. Jonathan Bettey, General Overseer of the Temple of Glory Ministries, Tema later dedicated and out-doored the School cloth, clock and calendar towards the anniversary.
