Millennium Challenge Corporation official happy with projects in Ghana

04 Jan 2011 180 news, social

Mr Jonathan Bloom, Deputy Vice President for West Africa at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), has expressed satisfaction on the progress of work on Millennium Development Account (MIDA) road projects in the country. He noted that those executing the projects had been well focused, determined and working hard. The projects include the Tetteh Quarshie-Mallam road and the Tetteh Quarshie-Apenkwa Dual Carriageway. Mr Bloom on a working visit to Ghana made the observation during a courtesy call on Mr Joe Gidisu, Minister of Roads and Highways in Accra on Tuesday. He commended the Government for developing the road sector and called for improvement to be made on feeder roads in the country. Mr Gidisu pledged government’s commitment to complete the projects despite some challenges in the relocation of utility facility lines. He noted that there had been a major boost in the road sector, which had improved economic activities in the country. Mr Bloom is expected to pay courtesy calls also at the Ministry Finance and Economic Planning and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA). The MCC provides economic assistance through a competitive selection process to developing nations pursuing political and economic reforms in justice, investing in people, and fostering economic freedom.
