Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has enjoined all Ghanaians to work hard this year for the sake of the children, who are the future leaders of the country. He said there was the need for all and sundry to forget bitterness and come together as one people and support the government to evolve effective planned programmes to enhance the proper development and survival of “our children”. Mr. Owusu-Ansah, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) of Kwabre West Constituency made the call when some concerned citizens of the area called on him at his office on Friday. He told them that he was doing all that he could to facilitate the development of the constituency and the region in general and stressed the need for the people to appreciate his efforts and support him. He said the government was committed to “equity distribution of projects and resources” and thanked God for what he has so far got for the area and stressed the need for them to desist from unnecessary criticisms and wait for their share. He emphasized the need for the electorate to continue to sacrifice to support him and the government to bring more projects to the area now that the constituency has become a district; Afigya Kwabre. He said he was working assiduously with the Transportation Ministry to get the road network in the constituency in shape to bring proper development to the area. Mr. Owusu-Ansah emphasized that, he had succeeded to get the roads in the area awarded on contracts and expressed the hope that the contractors would live up to expectation and work hard to complete the projects on schedule. Touching on other projects, he said he purchased and installed 474 sets of street lights in all the 43 towns and villages in the constituency during the yuletide. He said with his share of the MP’s Common Fund, he also purchased 400 low and high tension poles to support and facilitated the completion of the Self-Help Electrification Projects (SHEP) in some of the communities, including, Sasa, Sayemo, Bomso, Nantan, Akosuwa, Abrade, Essen and Besease. The MP said through his initiatives and the Common Fund, eight new six-unit classrooms blocks have been built to ease congestion in the schools, bags of cement, roofing sheets have also been provided for the rehabilitation of schools and toilet facilities in many of the communities in the constituency. Mr. Owusu-Ansah said that an amount of 1,300 Ghana Cedi has been provided for the completion of a health centre being constructed by the people of Apagya.
