Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Member of Parliament (MP) for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) constituency said, he was still the sitting MP of the area and would continue to do what is expected of him. He said declaring his intentions to contest for the presidency on the ticket of the Convention People Party (CPP) does not mean he is no longer an MP and warned those who were giving false information on the issue to wait till next year for the electorate to decide on their next MP. Dr Nduom said this when the chiefs and people of Edina held a durbar at Elmina to honour him for his immense contributions towards the development of the district. He was presented with a stool and citation, which described him as an eminent son of the area who has contributed greatly towards its development, especially in the areas of education and job creation. It also stated "within a relatively short period of time you have eloquently demonstrated by your deeds the love you have for Ghana in general and KEEA in particular by playing an active role in the politics of the country and also by sponsoring a host of activities in the District". He said those "rushing him out of Parliament", should exercise patience since he has about one and half years to serve his constituency and gave the assurance that he would work hard to complete all the development projects he initiated. The projects, he said, includes the construction of roads, community libraries, rural electrification and the dredging of the Benya lagoon and hopes to finish them before the end of his term in office. Dr Nduom said he still appreciates President John Agyekum Kufuor's all-inclusive government and thanked God that he was able to work diligently with the Kufuor's administration without misappropriating funds or having serious problems with any member of the government. He also thanked the chiefs and people of his constituency for their support and pledged that he would continue to do what is expected of him as an MP. Nana Kodwo Conduah VI, Omanhene of Edina traditional, who presided, commended Dr Nduom for the numerous development projects in the areas and promised that they would continue to support him. Nana Conduah said he and his people were happy with what Dr Nduom was doing both at the national and international level and that they would not wait to show their appreciation at his funeral, but would rather do it whiles he is alive. He said due to his hard work and commitment to duty he was made a Minister in the NPP government and urged other citizens of Elmina to emulate his example.
