This led to agitations and speculations by Ghanaians people reading their own meanings into the postponement. The New Patriotic Party (NPP), it would be recalled, raised red flag over the inability of the Secretariat to release the figures as planned. According to the General Secretary of the Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, there are attempts by some elements at the Statistical service to massage figures from the Volta Region. But this claim was refuted by the Communications Officer at the Secretariat, Michael Adu-Gyamfi, who revealed that all the technical hitches have been resolved. He has also denied claims that the results from the regions are being manipulated.
