Ganja Man Kills Uncle

11 Jan 2011 180 news, social

Residents of Ansofona in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District of the Central Region were shocked when Kow Ahinful, a 35-year-old Rasta man, slaughtered his 75-year-old uncle, Kweku Afful last Thursday. The body of Afful has been deposited at the Abura Dunkwa government hospital for autopsy while the Abura Dunkwa Police is still investigating circumstances that compelled Ahinful to kill his uncle. Briefing DAILY GUIDE on Monday, the AAK District Police Commander, ASP Benard Twum Barimah, said on Thursday, some residents of Ansofona brought Ahinful to his outfit and claimed that he had slaughtered his uncle. ASP Twum Barimah noted that an eyewitness in the case said he was relaxing in front of his house when he saw Ahinful inflicting cutlass wounds on his uncle, a situation which nearly compelled him to intervene but the suspect warned him to stay away or else he would kill him too. The district commander stated that Ahinful fled with the cutlass to the bush after killing the uncle. ASP Twum Barima told DAILY GUIDE that when they got to the scene, they realised that the suspect lived on the outskirt of the town but the residents had burnt down the suspect’s dilapidated building. The district commander therefore appealed to the public not to touch anything at the crime scene to ensure effective investigation, adding that due to the extent of damage caused to the burnt down house, they did not get any evidence to support their investigation. ASP Twum Barima disclosed that upon interrogation, the police found out that the suspect had been mentally deranged since 1992 but the family claimed they did not have money to send him to a psychiatric hospital. He therefore appealed to the general public to send mental patients in their various homes to a psychiatric hospital to avert any trouble. The suspect, during interrogation, said he had been working with Voice of America (VOA) and that the uncle had sent some women to poison his water and food but he was compassionate towards them and rather used his uncle as a sacrificial lamb. “Sir whatever I am saying, I have a lot of witnesses at Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi and all over and even when I go to Kumasi, truck pushers hail me as the one who works at VOA. They shower me with gifts and I think that is what my uncle envies about me so that why I killed him,” he stated. “If you set me free today, I will not kill anybody again because he was the only one I needed to kill and I have planted a lot of mangoes I have to take care of,” he pleaded with the police. He was on Monday referred to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital while the docket has been sent to the Attorney General’s office for advice. Investigations conducted by Daily Guide indicate that Ahinful is a chain wee smoker.
