Mrs Cecilia Tutu-Danquah, Head of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Department for Teacher Training Colleges has urged teachers and students to participate in distance learning through ICT to update their knowledge to meet. She said this on Wednesday at a pre-conference of the upcoming Pan-African E-learning Conference for teachers and students to be held in Accra. She said about 15 million teachers from Africa were expected to undergo training during the conference to help promote the e-learning programme among both teachers and students for effective teaching and learning. Mrs Tutu-Danquah advised teachers to upgrade their skills in ICT to be able to guide students in the programme. She explained that the e-learning programme would open the gates for an influx of hard currency to help boost the economy, knowledge base and network potential in education and industry. Mrs Tutu-Danquah gave the assurance that all discussions at the Pan-African E-learning conference would be made available on the internet for public consumption. She said all the universities she had visited had infrastructure to promote the study of e-learning adding that measures would be put in place to prevent students from accessing pornographic films on the internet.
