The Convention People's Party (CPP) announced that the period of filing of nominations for the various positions to be contested for at the Third National Party Congress would be from October 8-22. A statement signed in Accra by Prof. Nii Noi Dowuona, General Secretary, said all those who were interested to contest for positions of presidential candidate for Election 2008 and national executives should collect nomination forms at the National Secretariat. He said nomination forms for presidential candidate was one million cedis, national chairperson 500,000 cedis, while those for national vice chairpersons, national treasurer, general secretary, national organiser, national women organiser and national youth organiser would sell for 200,000 cedis. He said the filing fees approved by the National Executive Committee for presidential candidate was 100 million cedis, while the fee for national chairperson was 50 million cedis. Prof. Dowuona said the filing fee for vice chairpersons was 30 million cedis, national treasurer and general secretary 20 million cedis and national organiser, national women organiser and national youth organiser 10 million cedis. "It is expected that as many party members would avail themselves of this fine opportunity to file their nominations in conformity with the rules and regulations," he said. The CPP added that all contestants must abide by the code of conduct approved by the Central Committee to ensure an atmosphere of cordial comradeship before and after Congress to facilitate human resource mobilisation for the 2008 campaign "and eventual victory in the general elections".
