Mohammed Abass, 31, the driver of the articulated truck which ran over and killed two school children and a woman at Kwesimintsim last Thursday has been remanded into police custody. He was provisionally charged with causing harm, careless and inconsiderate driving and is to re-appear in court on February 2. The docket of the case has been forwarded to the office of the Chief State Attorney for advice whilst investigation continues. Deputy Superintendent of Police Albert Delesta told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Bamford Nimako that on January 13 the accused, driving an articulated truck, ignored a signal from a traffic warden at a Zebra Crossing at Kwesimintsim and ran over school children killing two children and a woman. The prosecutor said the accident also caused injuries to five other persons. DSP Delesta said the accused bolted after the accident but reported himself to the police in Kumasi and was transferred to Takoradi.
