Two persons died on the spot and three others seriously injured, when a two-storey building under construction collapsed on them at Antwirifu, near Dormaa-Ahenkro, in Brong Ahafo Region. Thirty year old Paa Solo, an amputee and 14-year-old Kwadwo Edward, died on the spot, while Alfred Tawiah, a Presby Catechist, Henry Obeng Marfo alias Atta, a Primary five pupil and John Adu, owner of the building, suffered various degrees of injury. The injured were rushed to the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital where they are responding to treatment. An eye-witness told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Antwirifu that, the building collapsed suddenly on Wednesday, when most of the workers at the site had gone home, leaving Mr Adu, and a few friends. The amputee, who was then passing by, joined them and engaged them in a conversation when the disaster occurred, while a soap seller had a close shave with death when the structure collapsed seconds after he had come out of it. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Dormaa Presbyterian hospital pending autopsy while the Dormaa Municipal Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the police and the Dormaa Municipal Assembly are investigating the disaster.
