The Events Director of Charterhouse, Mrs Theresa Ayoade, two weeks ago, descended on panelists on Peace FM’s entertainment review programme and lambasted them to the extent of asking one of the panel members, Carlos Sakyi, to tell the whole world what he had done or achieved in society as a musician. Theresa accused Carlos of having a hidden agenda against her organization, Charterhouse, adding that he wanted to run her company down. “You people should stop mentioning our name on your station or keep quite. I am tired of you,” she fumed. Myriad radio listeners who heard Theresa’s utterances expressed their disappointment at the manner in which she attacked Carlos Sakyi. Mrs Ayoade could not control her temper when it was alleged that her company, Charterhouse had put the Ghana Music Awards held years ago on VCDs and was selling them without the knowledge of the artistes. The panel members were discussing concerns raised by certain musicians that Charterhouse was selling recordings of previous Ghana Music Awards on VCDs without their consent. Since the introduction of the Ghana Music Awards, there had been a number of criticisms about the nominations, award winners among others.According to copyright laws, which were reiterated by Carlos on the programme, the move by Charterhouse was an infringement on the rights of the artistes and was unacceptable. Carlos’ comments, however, did not go down well with Mrs Ayoade, who began blurting out.In her outburst, Theresa said: “We are doing our best putting resources and personnel together to make sure everything goes on well, and we are tired, just tired.”Some stakeholders in the industry believe Theresa Ayoade had the right to react, but some were of the view that she goofed in her approach and that her demeanor on air that day was bad. “If Theresa Ayoade’s reaction on radio is how Charterhouse would be responding to criticisms, then they are in big trouble,” stated a music producer.
