The Kumasi-Asafo branch of the Barclays Bank has renovated and donated items totalling GH¢11,000 to the Paediatric Emergency Unit (PEU) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre in Kumasi. It was part of activities marking the bank's annual "Madd Day" celebration that falls on November 3 during which workers get involved in voluntary and communal activities as part of the bank's corporate social responsibility. The group undertook clean-up exercises at the two places. Presenting the items Mrs. Beatrice Frimpong-Yamoah, branch Manager, said the renovation was to give the unit conducive atmosphere to enhance the health of the workers and children who visit the hospital. She said the renovation that included installation of water closets, furnishing the place with curtains, mattresses, water dispensers and painting of wards was in response to a request made by the hospital and that more assistance would follow. Receiving the items Dr. Emmanuel Addo-Yobo, Head of Directorate of Child Health, thanked the bank for the assistance. The Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre was also presented with wooden benches and treated mosquito nets.
