I will seek the counsel of God – Nii Lante Vanderpuye

07 Feb 2012 165 news, politics

The Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Odododiodioo constituency, Mr. Edmund Nii Lante Vanderpuye, on Sunday, promised to seek the counsel of God in all of his actions. In this direction, Mr. Lante Vanderpuye said, he would be in constant touch with Ministers of religion for guidance and direction as the one charting a path will not be aware of the fact that he was deviating. The NDC Odododiodioo Parliamentary candidate, who was speaking at a thanksgiving church service at the Mission to Nations auditorium at Palladium in Accra on Sunday, stated that before the Constituency primary two weeks ago, he attended a service at the same venue. He said during the service he prayed for a successful and peaceful primaries, adding that he sought God’s favor for at least 75 per cent of the votes but the Almighty was more gracious and gave him more than 80 per cent. Quoting the Bible, Mr. Lante Vanderpuye said, “To whom much is given much is expected” and said more responsibility had been placed on the people and his supporters to serve God better in love and unity to ensure the success of the “Agenda for a Better Odododiodioo”. The Parliamentary Candidate expressed optimism to retain the seat for the NDC and said instead of the statement that “This is my time”, the clarion call should be “This is our time” He stressed the need for pastors within the constituency to remember him in their prayers since his success or failure would reflect on them. Present at the afternoon thanksgiving service were the Constituency Chairman, Mr. Daniel Nii Okai, the Secretary Mr. Joseph Otoo, members of the Ashiedu Keteke Local Council of Churches and hundreds of NDC members clad in white signifying victory. Conspicuously absent were the two other contestants at the primary, Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency and Mr Walid Anyertei Laryea, a businessman. When Ghana News Agency (GNA) asked why they had not attended the service, Mr Vanderpuye explained that he had been in contact with them on three different occasions and said while Mr Walid Laryea said he was going to be out of town, Mr Tackie Komme said he had a funeral. The Parliamentary Candidate stated that he was sure they would join him on the next programme, which would be a picnic for all in the effort to create a unity of purpose to go into the 2012 General Elections as “One united family” to retain the seat for the NDC.
