The Electoral Commission (EC) has fixed Thursday November 25 to Saturday November 27 for receiving nominations for the 2010 District Assembly and Unit Committee Elections, slated for December 28. The forms can be collected between 0900 hours to 1200 and 1300 hours to 1700 hours each day. In a statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday signed by Mr Christian Owusu-Parry, EC Acting Director of Public Affairs directed prospective candidates to obtain nominations forms from Returning Officers in the electoral areas or units where they were seeking to contest for the elections. "Nominations forms may also be obtained free of charge from the Returning Officers at EC District Offices throughout the country," the statement stated. According to the EC requirement for nomination include; three recently taken photographs - bust size. "Persons contesting the Unit Committee Elections are informed that in addition to a proposer and a seconder, their nomination should now be supported by 10 other registered voters in the electoral area or unit where they are seeking elections," the statement stated.
