Stanbic Bank donates medical equipment to Tamale Teaching Hospital

Stanbic Bank has donated medical equipment valued at 5,000 dollars to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). The donation is made up of three boxes of Ambu Mark IV resuscitators with single patient valves, an instrument designed to produce manual ventilation of adults and children with a body weight of approximately 15 kg (3 years) and about 20 kg (4-5 years). Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana said the presentation was in response to a request by the hospital last year to support the intensive care unit with the equipment. He said the resuscitators were essential items needed in the theatre and recovery wards where patients had undergone surgery. “This in essence is an instrument which is needed to save lives and make recovery easy for patients…” he said. Stanbic pledged to foot the medical bills of a six- year old girl; Latifa Issa whose parents abandoned her in the hospital due to the magnitude of her illness. According to Dr Thomas Anabah, of TTH, the child was suffering from intestinal perforation. He said treatment of such a disease cost about GH¢ 150.00 a day. Dr Ken Sagoe, Chief Executive Officer of the TTH, who received the equipment said: “This donation is a great relief for the management, staff and patients of the hospital. He called on public-spirited individuals and organisations to support the hospital to be able to improve the livelihood of people in the north.
