A health walk on new year’s eve in Ho under the auspices of “No Tribe Foundation” (NTF), a local non-governmental organisation (NGO), attracted the political representatives of the people in the Municipality. Mr Isaac Kodobisah, Municipal Chief Executive said people could regulate their medical bills through regular exercises. Captain George Nfodjoh, (Rtd) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central said besides exercising people should reduce the intake of alcohol and stop smoking to stay healthy. Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister commended NTF for the rare initiative, saying it was the NGO’s contribution to national development. There was consensus among the three political leaders that potable water, roads, a university of allied sciences for the region and other educational projects were meant to better the living conditions of the people. Mr Frank Kwame Asempa, Founder and Director of the Foundation said it was important that all and sundry acknowledged the need for regular exercises. He urged the participants to “adopt the habit of exercising their bodies, taking in proper diets and also moderate some of the finer pleasures of life such as excessive drinking and smoking”. Mr Asempa said the objectives of “No Tribe Foundation,” based in Ho, include promoting unity among all ethnic, religions and political groups and bridging… gaps that seem to divide us”. He said the Foundation also had programmes in the areas of cross cultural relations building, education, governance and agriculture. The two-hour walk, involving about 700 people, started from the offices of the Municipal Assembly, through the market area street to the Civic Centre, in the centre of the municipality, ending at the sports stadium. It was sponsored by the Municipal Assembly; some local business concerns, Captain Nfodjoh, and some members of the Foundation.
