Health workers who repeatedly exhibit bad attitude towards patients must be prevented from coming into contact with sick persons. Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Aaron Offei, says unfriendly attitude of some personnel remains a challenge to health care. He says such people should be assigned administrative duties where they will not deal directly with patients. Dr. Offei was opening a new laboratory complex at Juabeng in the Ejisu-Juabeng District. Construction of the 80 Ghana cedis facility was financed by the National AIDS Control Program with support from the hospital itself. It will provide laboratory services to the people who until now travel to other places for such services. It will also help in the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS cases for prompt treatment at the hospital, which is an anti-retroviral treatment centre. Dr. Offei commended the hospital administration for raising money internally to support the project when the National Aids Control Program ran out of funds. He also called on transport owners to offer their vehicles to transport sick people during emergencies.
