MTN Music Awards Tomorrow

After several months of serious preparations, this year’s MTN Ghana Music Awards Festival 2008 comes off this week. The festival began yesterday with a gala night held at the La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra. At the event, attended by a cross section of stakeholders in Ghana’s music industry, certain strategic music industry awards were presented. This year’s MTN Ghana Music Awards, which had won the hearts of music fans in Ghana and beyond, is expected to attract musicians in Ghana and some parts of Africa, Europe and US, stakeholders in the music and copyright sectors, journalists and a cross section of the general public. The awards night scheduled for tomorrow will be the high point of the festival. It has a huge audience appeal and American hiphop icon, Ja Rule has promised to give the audience a sneak preview of his Sunday show at the La Beach. The audience will also witness performances from Kwaw Kesse, Lenny Akpadie and Cee- nominees for Discovery of the Year category- as well as Chemphe, Irene and Jane and Five5 among others. The awards night promises to live up to the hype and visits to the various venues reveal feverish preparations underway to make the event a grand affair. The festival climaxes on Sunday April 27 at the La Beach where a massive out-door party has been scheduled with performances by celebrated Ghanaian musicians like Ohemaa Mercy, VIP, Kwaw Kesse and Tinny among others. They will be sharing the stage with Ja Rule, Nameless and P Square of Do me I do you fame. At the time of going to press yesterday, Ghanaian music fans were still frozen with anticipation, with regard to the upcoming shows. Dress code for the Festival is a Touch of Yellow.
