Ghana national team is expected to have a new assistant coach by next month with former Black Stars captain Akwasi Appiah to return to the post. Frenchman Claude Le Roy's deputy Sellas Tetteh is expected to take charge of the national under-20 team in preparation towards the African Youth Championship. Experienced coach E. K. Afranie, who led Ghana to second place at the Under-17 World Cup in Egypt in 1997, is to return as the coach of the team for the 2009 tournament. Appiah, who aided Jones Attuquayefio as Black Stars coach in 2001, will return after spending some time in the UK undergoing some coaching courses. But Ghanasoccernet sources have revealed that Tetteh is uneasy about the arrangement because of the huge profile, exposure and winning bonuses of the Black Stars. Tetteh led the unfancied Ghana U-17 team to the World Cup last year in South Korea where they finished fourth in the tournament. The Ghana Football Association is keen to continue with its policy of continuity in team building by maintaining the coach and the core of the squad for the under-20 World Cup in 2009. Meanwhile, the future of the coaches of the Black Meteors and Black Queens will be decided at the end of the Olympic Games qualifiers. Attuquayefio is in charge of the Black Meteors while Isaac Paha is the coach of the female national team.
