“I Haven’t Decided Yet Over 400 Million Gig” Ike The Unpredictable

Readers, as I promised earlier this year, the team will bring you nothing but the best information on your favorite radio presenters and all those behind the microphones whose duty it is to bring listeners the best of programs. The train decided to make a fast trip to the Ashanti Region upon a tip off we had, that a new radio station is yet to take off this month and the offers being made is quite huge. Radio presenters are now being treated as footballers where big offers are given for transfers but trust me if care is not taken as others did some time ago the law court will be the next destination or probably the sudden end of ones career. Call him Ike the unpredictable or Isaac Obiri Yeboah and he will respond accordingly. He is sometimes branded as the ladies favorite due to his soothing voice on radio and his dexterity has eventually taken him higher than he ever thought. The current rumor in the Ashanti Region is the inception of a new radio station and its ambition to poach workers from other stations. On my list is Isaac Obiri Yeboah of Angel 96.1 FM and his offer is a sum of four hundred million old Ghana cedis (400million cedis) and a two weeks holiday trip to South Africa. The “Who Is on Radio” investigative team in an interaction with Ike the Unpredictable inquired if he is going for that offer and his response was “he has not decided yet”. Ike is the host of the “Angel Drive” and “Church Bells” on Angel 96.1 FM located at the Abrepo Junction in Kumasi. He is among the few gentlemen on radio who have tasted the ups and downs in the industry. His radio ambition started from campus, Continental Radio 96.1 FM on UST campus where he hosted the mid morning program “High life Safari” in 1999. After school he had gain more weight in what he took initially as a hobby and worked with “Mighty FM” at Mampong as the host of their drive time program and also as the head of programs, a position he held for four years. He moved from Programs Manager to General Manager of “Kiss FM” in Drobo in the Brong Ahafo Region and again hosted the drive show. Ike moved back to the Ashanti Region first to “Kings FM” at Konongo as the Programs Manager and “Light FM” for a year in each station where he hosted the drive program till he was poached to Angel FM. He has being on board the Angel plane since its inception and has been the host of the Angel drive from Monday to Friday and the church bells on Sunday mornings. His drive which seems to differ from the rest has a 30 minutes segment where he puts a topic on board for discussion with a panel of two with listeners also getting the opportunity to call and contribute. On Fridays he has what he calls the Angel Play list. This is a section his listeners mostly refer to as the magic segment, here listeners call and select songs of their choice and the songs are played immediately it is requested for. This is mostly patronized by the ladies. Ike the Unpredictable’s dream was to be a graphic designer and so with the education attained from Mizpah preparatory, Technology Senior Secondary, University of Science and Technology he holds a British Certificate in Graphic Designing. His plan for the future is to get back to his managerial position in radio or to focus on his graphic designing. He also aims at broadening his record label to help other young talented musicians. So my question remains, is his first frequency 96.1 going to be his last? But the only response I remember Ike the Unpredictable giving was “When we get to the river we will cross it”. To many who might not know he is a very submissive gentleman.
