Ghana to play Nigeria in CHAN final round
Ghana’s local Black Stars will face their Nigerian counterparts, the Super Eagles in the final round of the qualifying rounds of the Africa Nations Championships (CHAN). The two West Africa soccer rivals will battle each other for the single slot allotted Zone West B of the competition designed exclusively for local footballers plying their trade in their domestic leagues. Nigeria qualified for the finals after beating Burkina Faso 2-1 in Ouagadougou on Sunday to qualify on a 4-1 aggregate. The Black Stars had scaled through twenty-four hours earlier after a 2-2 draw with the Hawks of Togo to advance on a 4-2 aggregate. Ghana will host the first leg on the weekend of November 28 to 30 with the return leg billed for Abuja between December 12 and 14. Cote d’Ivoire will host the maiden edition from February 22 to March 8, 2009.
