The Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi would host Ghana’s first 2010 World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifying match against Libya. Ghana would play the North African side on June 1 at the 40,000 capacity stadium which was refurbished for the 2008 African Nations Cup. The Black Stars played in Kumasi during their 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign with their last game at the then old grounds being the game against Uganda in September 2005. After having played majority of their games this year at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra, President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi today confirmed the ground switch and says, the Black Stars would utilize all the stadiums in the country for its matches. “We (the FA) decided to play all our matches at the four new stadia. “The games for the national teams would be spread across the venues in the country. It’s not only Kumasi that we would be using. But the other grounds would be used as well depending in the conditions. “Kumasi, was the last match venue for the Black Stars before the Cup of Nations. “And for this game (match with Libya), we've decided to start in Kumasi,” Ghana’s Football Association President told www.ghanafa.org. The Baba Yara Stadium was the last match venue for the Black Stars at the 2008 Nations Cup where Ghana beat Ivory Coast to win bronze. The kick off time for the 2010 World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifying match against Libya is at 17:00GMT.
