The Ministry of Education has announced that more than 1.4 million senior high school (SHS) students across the country will benefit from subject-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications designed to improve teaching and learning.
The Ministry, in a press release dated Wednesday, October 1, 2025, said the digital tools would also support over 68,000 teachers in delivering the new SHS curriculum.
According to the Ministry, the apps have been developed using Ghana’s curriculum resources, including teacher manuals, lesson plans and assessment tools. They will work both online and offline to make them accessible to schools in rural and urban areas.
The rollout is being carried out in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), the National Teaching Council (NTC) and the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA).
Additional support is being provided by Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL) and other education partners.
“To ensure the effectiveness of the apps, NaCCA has outlined a four-phase testing process covering technical accuracy, educational quality, user experience and regional readiness,” the Ministry said in its statement.
Pilot sessions have already started in 712 SHSs, where teachers have been trained through Professional Learning Community (PLC) workshops.
The Ministry added that the subject-based apps would be rolled out fully in October 2025, with training for more than 7,800 SHS-based facilitators across the country.
The statement said the initiative was aimed at supporting teachers to improve learning outcomes.
“The Ministry of Education is ensuring that the use of AI in education supports teachers to achieve better results for all learners,” the statement said.
