Accra, Sept. 30, GNA - Accra Girls Old Students Association (AGOSA) on Thursday organised a candlelight procession on the campus of their alma mater- Accra Girls Senior High Secondary School, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the school. The procession attracted the current students of the school, which was founded on September 30, 1960 in Accra. The year-long celebration is on the theme: "Sustaining Quality Girl-child Education, 50 years beyond." Mrs Miriam Nkansah, Co-ordinator of AGOSA told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the procession would help the students to reflect on their school days. She said since the inception of the school, it has trained a lot of women who have become very influential in the society. Mrs Nkansah said the future of the school lie in the hands of the students, hence the need for them to put up their best to ensure the advancement of the academic facility to attain the highest position as the top girl's school in the country. She called on all old students to take active roles in the celebration to ensure its success. A home coming for old girls, a speech and prize giving day, a dinner dance as well as a thanksgiving service would be held in October as part of the celebration.
