The Head Mistress of Aburi Girls High School Mrs. Sylvia Asempa on Thursday, handed over her office to the Akuapem North District Director. Mrs. Asempa took over the headlines in the Ghanaian media a couple of weeks ago, over issues of her collision with NAGRAT as well as her refusal to leave office although she has reached her compulsory retirement age. She even accused some of her male teachers of entertaining female students in their rooms. The Director of Basic Schools who is also the Acting Deputy Director General in charge of Quality and Access at the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Steven Adu disclosed this in an interview to Adom News. Mr. Adu said she had earlier pleaded for an extension to allow her some time to finish up with certain editorials but that extension ended on Thursday. Mr. Adu said the GES allowed Mrs. Asempa some time because Aburi Girls School is a mission school. He added that the GES usually allows, at least, a one month period of time for heads to organize themselves before leaving office but due to the problems Mrs. Asempa had with some of her teaching staff, she was given only two weeks to organize and handover.
