The vision of the Takoradi Polytechnic is to achieve excellence in manpower training and action research in order to provide support to industry and commerce in the areas of human resource development and information development. To this end, the Polytechnic aims to promote industrialisation and economic development for the Western Region and Ghana in general. This vision is being pursued through the following goals and objectives. Goals The goals of the Polytechnic are to contribute to Ghana’s employment and human resource capacity building by providing technological and commercial education at tertiary level and to provide other related programmes such as research and consultancy to improve productivity in industry and commerce. Objectives The objectives of the Polytechnic in order to achieve the aforementioned goals are to: a) Offer Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in selected areas required for middle level employment capacity building and improvement of the nation’s economy. b) Offer degree programmes in selected areas required for national development. c) Increase access to career focused tertiary education in general, while encouraging female enrolment in applied science and technology programmes. d) Develop appropriate attitudes and required skills in information technology (IT) and entrepreneurship for increased interest and participation in the private sector which constitutes the engine of economic growth. e) Promote the country’s industrialisation programme through relevant research consultancy and linkage programmes, for social and economic development in the region and the country as a whole.
