Accra Grammar School (AGS) is a co-educational establishment dedicated to serving children from ages 5-15 years (K1-9). The school is located at Oyibi on the Accra-Dodowa Road. The primary aim of the school is to prepare children for second cycle education all over the world. The school utilizes an American Style curriculum, while meeting all the goals set forth by the Ghana Education Service at every level. An independent board of educational consultants from the United States and Ghana actively participate in governance and strategic functions of the school
AGS's curriculum is based on American educational standards enriched to promote local and regional perspectives. We address these areas of child development with equal importance: mathematical development, creative development, communication skills, language and literacy, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical development, personal, social and emotional development.
The following subject areas are addressed developmentally. Language Arts/English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Modern Language, Physical Education and Health Studies, Fine Arts, and Computer Science.
The school is organized into three divisions; an elementary (Early Child Hood), middle school, and junior high school each section has its own (assistant) principal and is managed separately. The principal coordinates the overall school program. We believe this allows as to manage the needs of students and also to focus more attention on every child. There is tremendous emphasis on discipline and structure.
