The Member of Parliament for Shama, Mrs Agelina Baiden-Amissah has defended her violation of the New Patriotic Party directive to withhold their campaigns until the party officially opens nominations. Mrs Baiden-Amissah told Joy News’ Evans Mensah that she was forced to violate the directive by the need to counter false information being peddled by some individuals to the effect that she was no longer going to contest the seat. She said her supporters were being misled by the false information necessitating a response from her. Mrs Baiden-Amissah who is also the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, explained her constituents were being told that once President Kufuor was stepping down after serving two terms in office, she, the MP was also not eligible to contest the seat. The Deputy Minister and NPP presidential hopeful, Papa Owusu Ankoma are said to have violated their party’s directive and displayed their posters openly declaring their intentions to contest their seat in this year’s general elections.
