Mr Emmanuel Sin-Yet Asigri, District Chief Executive (DCCE) for the Garu-Tempane District, has asked politicians not to meddle in chieftaincy matters, especially within the Bawku Municipality and it environs. Mr Asigri noted that the Chieftaincy institution was one of the institutions that should not be undermined. He made the statement in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Bolgatanga on Thursday. He indicated that funds that could have been used for development were rather being used to replace destroyed property, treat injured persons and search for peace. Mr Asigri pointed out that people should rather channel their energy towards development instead of conflict. He stated that those days when ethnic conflict was used as a yardstick to measure strength and power were things of the past and people, especially Opinion Leaders and Chiefs should learn to educate their subjects about the evil effects of ethnic conflicts.
