59 Percent Of Ghanaian Youth Engage In Pre-Marital Sex

19 Jan 2011 182 news, social

Mr Samuel Hamid, a Minister of Agona Asafo Branch of Church of Christ has observed that about 59 per cent of the youth engage in pre-marital sex due to the adoption of foreign culture. Quoting a research organised by the church, he said the phenomenon had led to the high rate of indiscipline in the society. Mr Hamid was preaching at a three-day Convention held at Saltpond on the theme: “Life in the Kingdom.” He advised Christians to be wary of false prophets and their misleading activities, which spans deceit and misinterpretation of the Bible for their selfish ends and not the welfare of the people. Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey, Head of Mankessim-Estate branch of the church said destiny was not determined by a person’s possession but by what possesses him. He stressed: “Destiny is not by chance but choice and the aim of every Christian is to gain eternity. Bishop Sackey said: “It is high time we all emulate the life style of Jesus Christ to help save more souls for God.”He said Jesus Christ was the personification of all characters and the only person worth of emulation by mankind. “It takes a well trained Christian with integrity to achieve the highest efficiency and productivity at work, which Jesus Christ exhibited to save mankind,” he added. Bishop Sackey urged the youth to desist from immoral acts and rather devote their time for God's work. Mr Joseph Kojo Taylor, also a Minister of the church asked Christians to work with their talents to contribute to national development since every attainable ambition was achieved through a sense of responsibility. “We often pride ourselves in our jobs, trades or associations forgetting that God has a plan of placing us in that career or business… Therefore there is the need to give back to society as fellow Christians,” he added.
